  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons salt

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

For the Tomato Sauce:

  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

For the Toppings:

 

  • 2 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • ½ cup sliced pepperoni
  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • ½ cup diced bell peppers (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:

    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, and yeast.
    • Add warm water, melted butter, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
    • Knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Cover and let it rise for 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  • Make the Tomato Sauce:

    • Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
    • Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
    • Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and sugar.
    • Simmer for 15-20 minutes until thickened.
  • Preheat the Oven:

    • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Grease a 10-inch or 12-inch deep dish pizza pan with olive oil.
  • Assemble the Pizza:

    • Roll out the dough and press it into the greased pan, covering the bottom and sides.
    • Layer shredded mozzarella cheese directly on the crust.
    • Add sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and bell peppers.
    • Pour the prepared tomato sauce over the toppings.
    • Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake the Pizza:
