1 (8 oz) package imitation crab meat, chopped
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup finely chopped green onions
1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs
½ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
½ teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
1 large egg, beaten
Cooking spray or oil, for baking or frying
Optional: chopped parsley or red pepper flakes for garnish
Chop the crab meat or flake if using real crab.
In a large bowl, combine crab, cheese, green onions, breadcrumbs, mayo, mustard, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Mix until fully combined.
Shape mixture into small balls or flattened nuggets using a scoop or spoon.
To bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place crunchies on a parchment-lined tray, spray with oil, and bake 15–20 minutes until golden.
To air fry: Cook at 375°F for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway.
To pan fry: Heat oil in a skillet over medium. Fry crunchies 2–3 minutes per side until crisp and golden.
Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauces or toppings.
Drain excess moisture from crab meat before mixing.
Chill the mixture before shaping to improve binding.
Use seasoned or panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
